“As the business agency for the state of Lower Austria our task is to support companies with their projects, accompany them and create the best possible framework for successful business activities. I am thrilled that we were able to support Karner with the expansion of their site in Neulengbach and so contribute to the successful development of the company,” explained Helmut Miernicki, ecoplus Managing Director.
“The Lower Austrian economic landscape is largely made up of medium-sized companies that help to promote Lower Austria as an economic powerhouse through their dedication and entrepreneurial spirit. Companies like AKRA Karner Düngerproduktion GmbH. I would like to say a big thank you to Robert Karner who has stayed loyal to the state for 30 years and is a model local company. I would also like to congratulate the company on their anniversary and wish the management team and all employees lots of success in the future.”
“It takes courage to invest this much during turbulent times. Regardless of whatever crisis is going on at a particular moment, there are always many questions about the future that need urgent solutions. Developments related to climate change and the associated problems in the agricultural sector need action without further delay. With our new site in Lower Austria, we are now fully operational and ready to make a contribution to tackling the climatic and environmental challenges facing us today.”

Background
Fertiliser in the fight against pests, drought and more
For over 30 years, Karner has been producing fertilisers for the agricultural sector and has experienced massive success both inside and outside Austria. All products can be used in both conventional and organic farming and their composition focuses on restoring the natural-biological balance that soils have increasingly lost in recent decades due to intensive use and climatic changes. Whether its grubs, weevils or drought: behind every supposed problem is a biologically-proven cause that can be tackled if you use the right fertiliser.
As such, it is still possible to achieve good yields despite increasing pest infestations and drought. Karner, however, firmly believes that there is still lots of room for improvement in this area. What makes the successful Lower Austrian company stand out, is the scientifically-founded and long-term accompaniment and support that it provides customers. Both the products themselves and the areas of application are continuously examined and evaluated by external partners.
Karner Düngerproduktion GmbH is headquartered in Neulengbach (district of St. Pölten Land) and produces and sells organic fertilisers for use in both conventional and organic farming. While the majority of fertilisers are mainly made up of nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium, the fertilisers made by Karner Düngerproduktion GmbH contain at least 25 nutrients. The company is active throughout Europe and the export share to countries outside of Europe is 85 per cent.
The aim of all Karner products is to put in place a sustainable and environmentally-friendly use of fertilisers that brings the nutrient composition of the soil back into optimal balance. As soon as the soil balance is restored, not only do agricultural yields significantly increase, but the nitrate load in groundwater is reduced as is the need for plant protection products (e.g. fungicides and pesticides).
In addition, it has been proven that the water-retention capacity of the soil can be increased by a factor of 20 with specially formulated AKRA fertiliser mixes. This provides passive flood protection and allows the soil to regain the ability to bind CO2 which is harmful for the environment.
