Success with AKRA at Agrana

Field tests carried out by Agrana with the AKRA fertilising system on organic beets in 2019

  • Yields: 58 to/ha (despite drought)

Rohringer Organic Farm in the district of Mistelbach, Lower Austria, was specially selected by the Agrana Sugar Factory in Tulln as the first cultivation on these fields (approx. 5 hectares) was so significantly impacted by beet weevils that it had to be stopped and a new planting of beets carried out.

The AKRA products were used from the second reseeding. Surveys (counts) of the pheromone traps (48 buckets) showed a weevil infestation of up to 200 weevils per day and per bucket! After multiple applications of AKRA products, the weevils were successfully driven away and the beets survived the early stages of their development. The farm then subsequently fertilised the beets with AKRA products (acc. to the application advice provided).

The beet crops were evaluated on the 30th of August 2019: in the healthy and vital beet population, hardly any occurrence of Cercospora was detected right up until harvest.
