Advantages

AKRA Silage additive is manufactured in a natural process using carefully selected cane molasses with the addition of highly-active strains of lactic acid.

During the fermentation phase, fermentation acids like acetic, lactic and propionic acid are formed. These fermentation acids are kept in a harmonious balance by the AKRA Silage additive – without any chemical additives.

Thanks to the rapid fermentation process and pH reduction, the risk of faulty fermentation is reduced as is the amount of fermentation effluent run-off.

Applications and advice

Applications

AKRA Silage additive is suitable for use with grasses, legumes, whole grain plants, silage maize and corn cob products, whole grain plant silage and crushed grains.

Application rates

For direct application to the silage:
  • Grass and maize silage: 0.25 l AKRA Silage additive + 2 l water per tonne
  • CCM and ground ear maize: 0.5 l AKRA Silage additive + 2 l water per tonne

Use with forage that is difficult to ensile

You can use AKRA Silage additive to improve the fermentation process with forage that is difficult to ensile by increasing the application rate.

Note

Attention: Silage additives should not be used as a replacement for poor starting materials or incorrect ensiling techniques.
